Comprehensive information on tourism in the Maldives + hotels and resorts ...
If you like the sunny atmosphere, the Maldives is an ideal destination for your holidays. It is sunny from December to April. During these months hundreds of tourists flock to the Maldives, mostly Europeans. While most of the continents suffer frostbite, during this period the dry monsoon comes with some showers and dampness declines in the Maldives. From February to April, resorts are crowded with tourists from all over the world. January is seeing an increase in tourist numbers largely due to Christmas and New Year celebrations and overpriced prices at all resorts. Prices are also rising significantly during the Italian Easter season in August, where price inflation is taking place in most resorts.
From May to June, Maldives is experiencing a recession in tourism due to storms and rain during this period as the sky becomes cloudy and humidity levels are high. Prices fall during these months except August.
There are divers throughout the year in the Maldives. A basic rule that we should always remember is that life on coral reefs is different and varies on the western side of the reef from May to November and on the eastern side of the coral island from December to April. Thus divers should be present continuously.
The months of March-October is the season of water skiing, which is great news for my surfers, when working at cheaper resorts.
